Everett Turner's Obituary
Mr. Everett A. Turner, age 83, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 28, 2004 in Muskegon. He was born November 2, 1920 to Floyd and Lula (McCleese) Turner in Crystal Valley Township, and lived most of his life in Oceana County. He worked at Campbell, Wyant, and Cannon in Muskegon for over 30 years before retiring, was a member of Elbridge Community Church, enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, and being with his family. Everett was a World War II veteran, serving his country from Aug. 1942 to Aug. 1945. He was a U.S. Army Ranger. He was in many campaigns, the worst one being the Normandy Invasion. While serving in the Army, he received the Purple Heart, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars, and 4 Overseas Service Bars. On January 31, 1942 he married the love of his life Laura McNarland. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2003. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Charles (Marilyn) Turner of Texas, Sandra (Henry) Lange of Hart, Pamela (Bill) Kalman of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, Matthew Turner, Jefferson Linewebber, John, Paul, and Baron Lange, Courtney (Trevor) Tinkham, Gary Tanner; 2 great grandchildren, Nicole and David Lange; 2 brothers, Gale (Mary Lou) Turner of Hart, Floyd (Mary Jane) Turner, Jr. of Ludington; 3 sisters, Leona Chase of Fremont, Geneva (Rev. Robert) Shellhouse of Hart, Betty Shellhouse of Hart. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, William and Richard Turner; 1 sister, Hazel Wicks. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the Elbridge Community Church, with Rev. Robert Shellhouse officiating. Burial will take place at Elbridge Cemetery.
