Ewing Robert "Bob" Collins' Obituary
Mr. Ewing Robert “Bob” Collins, age 86, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011, at Sanctuary at the Park. He is now walking the streets of heaven re-united for eternity with his beloved wife, Dot. Bob was born September 8, 1924 to Ewing Rush and Fay Collins in Roseville, MI, moving to White Cloud, MI 5 years later. Bob served our country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corp flying 43 missions and earning the rank of staff sergeant. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Dorothy “Dot” (nee, DeLong) on June 1, 1946 and settled in the Muskegon area. Bob and Dot were married for 46 ½ years until her death in 1992, raising 3 children together. Bob worked at Teledyne-Continental Motors, retiring in 1981 and owned & operated Apple Avenue Auto Sales with Dot. He kept the car lot open for 12 years after her death. Bob was a member of the Lovell-Moore Masonic Lodge, the Portside Model A Club, and the West Michigan Flying Club. He enjoyed cars of all makes but the Model A was very special to them and he owned several over the years. Bob was a great dancer and he and Dot enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing together. Bob greatly loved and will be deeply missed by his children: Linda (Dan) Pascavis of Fremont, Jeanne Collins of Muskegon, Bob Collins of Asheville, NC; and by his grandchildren, Brant (Dawn) Pascavis, Janis (Tony) Milliron, Rebecca (Don) Snippe, Jill (Rick) Venne, and Kristi (Jimmy) Ball. He was a fun & loving great-grandpa to Brandon and Brenna Snippe, Kyle Milliron, Austin and Hannah Bectel, Madelynn, Travis and Riley Pascavis, Josiah and Shiloh Ball and Blake and Alec Venne. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Avenue (231) 726-5210 with the Phil Grossenbacher officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Lincoln Township Cemetery in White Cloud with military honors offered by the Newaygo Veterans of Foreign War. VISITATION will be 5-8 PM Tuesday.
