Felipe Rodriguez Ruiz's Obituary
Mr. Felipe Rodriguez Ruiz, age 88, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at his home. He was born on May 26, 1928 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Quintero and Mercedes (Ruiz) Rodriguez, and resided in the Muskegon, MI area since 1949. Felipe worked at CWC in Muskegon before retiring. He was an avid runner and enjoyed his time at the Muskegon YMCA. Felipe also enjoyed gardening and attending to his plants. On August 24, 1963, he married the former Janice Werner and together they just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Janice survives him along with daughters, Jayne Ruiz of North Carolina, and Karyn (Darnell) Brown of Holton and their children, Connor, Collin, and Carlee; sister, Emma Maria Rodriguez of Boston; and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to niece, Cheryl (Potter) Calabro for the wonderful care you have given to your aunt and uncle for the past three years, and to all the wonderful caregivers that tended to his comfort. Felipe was preceded in death by his son, Michael; and 15 brothers and sisters. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 3 PM Friday, September 2 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Deacon Bill Cook officiating. Lunch will be served prior to the service in The Lee Chapel Family Center from 12-1PM on Friday, with Felipe’s visitation to follow from 1-3PM. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery.
