Florence Ann Bakale's Obituary
Florence Ann Bakale, age 90, of Grand Haven passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at her home. She was born April 6, 1923 in West Olive to Peter and Anna (Bacic) Kelava, and she was married to George William Bakale, Sr. on September 29, 1944 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Florence was an active homemaker all her life. She was a member of the Fruitport Bethel Baptist Church, she volunteered for International Aid making over 100,000 pill envelopes for the missionaries out in the field around the world. She enjoyed camping, gardening, crocheting, decorating cakes and baking in general. Most of all Florence enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. She was especially devoted to her son, George.
Florence is lovingly remembered by her 5 daughters: Susan (Mark) Mueller of Ferrysburg, Mary Myers of Grand Haven, JoAnn Skruch of Whitefish Bay, WI, Rose (Bill) Stone of Fruitport, Julie (Scott) Louis of Homestead, FL; 2 sons, George W. Bakale, Jr. of Grand Haven and Christopher (Bonnie) Bakale of Spring Lake; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Klukos of Agnew, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; 3 brothers: Frank, Peter and John Kelava; and son-in-law, Thomas Skruch.
A Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Steve Worth officiating. Friends may meet the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
