Florence Rood's Obituary
Mrs. Florence D. Rood, age 88, passed away Monday, December 6, 2004, at a local nursing home. Florence was born June 27, 1916, to William and Ella (Hecker) Phillips in East Chicago, Indiana. On April 27, 1940 she married Rev. Carl Rood in South Haven, MI. Florence had been a resident of this area since the time of her marriage and had been a member of Olivet Evangelical Free Church, where she had been actively engaged in choir work and other church activities. She later became a member of Cloverville Bible Church where her husband served as pastor. Florence is SURVIVED by her husband Carl; her son, Robert (Joyce) Rood of Jacksonville, FL; her daughter, Karen (Ronald) Summers of Birmingham, AL, 3 grandchildren; 4 great- grandchildren; a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and a host of loving residents and staff at University Park Living Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Eleanore. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 3:00 P.M., Thursday, December 9, 2004 at
Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, 231 726-5210 with Reverend Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will be made in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
