Florence A. Vanderlaan-Nielsen's Obituary
Florence A. Vanderlaan-Nielsen, age 97, passed away on March 14, 2021 at Heartwood Lodge. She was born on November 24, 1923 to Fredrick and Grace (Smith) Goodyke in Muskegon. Florence was a long time member of East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church before it disbanded. She raised her family with love and always found time to enjoy friends, piano, singing, knitting and especially her daily bowl of ice cream. On June 21, 1946, she married John C. Vanderlaan and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1972. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Debra (Dennis) Kruttlin, Jodi VanderMeulen, Rick (Robin) Vanderlaan, and Brian (Debora) Vanderlaan, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Frederick Nielsen, in 2011. A private family graveside ceremony was held at Oakwood Cemetery.
