Florence L. Nicolai's Obituary
Mrs. Florence L. Nicolai, age 89, died Saturday morning, April 2, 2005. She was born June 28, 1915 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Helena (VanderPoole) Kesteloot, and had resided in Muskegon for most of her life. Mrs. Nicolai worked for the S & H Redemption Center for 30 years before retiring in 1985. She also worked for Muirs Drug Store on Western Avenue, and after her retirement did demos in area grocery stores. Mrs. Nicolai was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, the Muskegon Moose, and the Muskegon Eagles. She loved to bowl and play cards, and enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family. On October 20, 1934, she married Raymond W. Nicolai in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on October 29, 1980. SURVIVORS include her son, Raymond J. (Joy) Nicolai of Muskegon; 3 daughters, Bernadette (Paul) Birdsall of Austin, TX, Yvonne Petersen, Cheryl (Alan) Bohland both of Muskegon; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Helen Shannon, Barb Fitzpatrick both of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Al and Fred Kesteloot, 2 sisters, Mildred Bisson and Rosalie Swart, and son-in-law, Quinton Petersen. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Michael Olson presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM this evening at
