Florian "Flossie" Malek-Rohde's Obituary
Mrs. Florian “Flossie” Malek-Rohde, age 94, of Grand Haven passed away Friday, April 7, 2017, at Sanctuary at the Shore. She was born September 14, 1922, in Antigo, WI to Edward “Cap” and Marie Barbara (Zalowski) Franklin. Flossie married Ernest Malek on February 23, 1946, in Ashland, WI and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1996. She then married Wesley Rohde, and he preceded her in death on October 10, 2015.
Flossie was a member of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church in Grand Haven. She worked during the war as a fingerprinter for the F.B.I. and later worked as a proof reader for the Grand Haven Tribune. Her other interests were playing the piano, and doing crossword puzzles.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, James (Mary) Malek of Grand Haven; four grandchildren: Peter (Jan) Malek of Grand Haven, Elizabeth (Brad) Johnson of Twin Lake, Neil Malek of Grand Rapids, and Ward Malek of Breckenridge, CO; and four great-grandchildren, Carter Johnson, Rena Malek, Evan Malek, and Eli Malek. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Franklin.
The funeral service for Flossie will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The VanZantwick Chapel in Grand Haven with Rev. Fr. Charles Schwartz officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
