Floyd Lee Washington's Obituary
Mr. Floyd Lee Washington, age 77, passed away at his home in Muskegon, Michigan on Friday, August 23, 2024. He was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on February 1, 1947 to Willie and Minnie (Tilman) Washington. On June 6, 1967, Floyd married the former Mary Louise Demyers. He was employed by Sappi Fine Paper for over 38 years prior to his retirement in 2002. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching sports. He also enjoyed spending time around his house relaxing and doing laundry, yes, doing laundry! Floyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; two daughters, Latanya Wheeler and LaSonja Washington; four grandchildren, Julian Crawford, Devin Crawford, Jailon Hutton, and Nathaniel Wheeler; sister, Ruthie Watson; sister-in-law, Shirley Demyers; brother-in-law, Arthur Jones; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Minnie and Earlest Demyers; son-in-law, Brian Wheeler; sisters, Delores Walls, Doris Jones, Mary “Tootie” Washington, Thomazine Washington, and Ruby Washington; and brothers, Willie Washington Jr., Henry Washington, and Tommy Lee Picket. A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 31, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Bishop Johnathan Jewett officiating.
