Fran Weaver's Obituary
Fran Weaver, age 76, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Fran was born in the Netherlands in the city of Almelo to Herman and Margaret (Bosch) Rorye on November 4, 1949. Her family moved to west Michigan when she was young, and she graduated from Western Michigan Christian High School. Fran worked for 22 years as a clerk at Walmart, where she made many strong friendships over the years. She was a longtime member at Calvin Church, where she was part of the Hearts and Hands team and also assisted with their Calvinettes program. On June 28, 1969, she married Gerald Weaver, and the two of them spent 45 wonderful years building their family together until he passed in 2014. Fran was a skilled bowler, bowling for over 50 years. She loved knitting, especially towel tops, and selling her wares at local art fairs. She enjoyed gardening and photography, and one of her favorite pastimes was going to Detroit Tigers games with her family. She was a proud grandmother more than anything, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply and was always there for them.
Fran will be lovingly remembered by her two children: Michael (Danielle) Weaver and Michelle (Jason) Kruizenga; nine grandchildren: Courtney (Abby) Wall, Trevor Jones, Kaitlyn Weaver, Shelby (Zack) Baddis, Cameron Weaver, Hunter White, Catera Polito, Jaiden Marshall, and Naomi Marshall; seven great-grandchildren: Lillianne, Paisley, Carter, Stockton, Eulalia, Zaylee, and Layla Lee, with two more on the way; five siblings: Alyce Baardman, Gerrit Rorye, Henry (Namsuk) Rorye, Greta (Jon) McCormick, and Jenny (Dan) Ozios; and many nieces and nephews and other extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, as well as her brother Bert Rorye.
A FUNERAL will be held for Fran at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Calvin Church, 973 W Norton Ave, Muskegon, MI 49441. VISITATION will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444, as well as at church an hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Western Michigan Christian High School or Muskegon Christian School.
