Frances B. "Fran" Arnson's Obituary
Mrs. Frances B. Arnson, lovingly known as Fran, Honey, and Aunt Honey, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014. Though young of spirit her body was tired and the love of our lives is now peacefully and painlessly at rest. She leaves behind her husband, sons, grandchildren, family, and friends to now cherish and celebrate the life she so generously and unselfishly shared with everyone who knew her and to hold so many memories very close to our hearts. Fran was born on August 13, 1935, in Shelby, MI to Simon and Sophia (Biolas) Tutak and lived in the Muskegon area most of her life. On June 23, 1956, she married Melvin R. (Mel) Arnson at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Muskegon and for over 57 years Honey and Mel have given all of us an example of what a loving marriage and family truly means. Fran was blessed with three wonderful sons, Derek (Judy), Brent (Sue), and Brian (Alison). She was also lovingly blessed with six grandchildren, Kelsey (fiancé Kyle Karum), Brandon, Katie, Jordan, Joshua, and Benjamin. Fran also leaves behind her dear sisters, Mary Bartlett, Jean Strach, sisters-in-law Hattie Tutak and Stella Tutak, brothers-in-law, John Strach and Carl Champion, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Sophia, sisters, Ann and Irene, brothers, Leo, Chet, and Ed, father –in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Marian Arnson, sisters-in-law Geraldine Tutak and Shirley Champion, and brothers-in-law, Ben Bartlett and Joseph Strach. Mel and Fran enjoyed 37 years at their cottage near Big Star Lake that was lovingly built by Mel and “her boys”. Fran and Mel also enjoyed several winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Honey, as Fran was also lovingly known by, was a wonderful cook and had a green thumb with her outdoor flowers and when creating artificial baskets and arrangements for family and friends. Fran so enjoyed the sun, the warm summer weather, fishing with Mel and Brent, as well as teaching her grandchildren the fine art of fishing. Going to lunch with family and friends, and thrift shopping, and arts and crafts sales were just a few of the many little joys of her life. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak as celebrant. VISITATION will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Tuesday evening. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday at the church. INTERMENT will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery.
