Frances A. "Fran" Sorensen's Obituary
Frances A. “Fran” Sorensen, age 91, passed away early Saturday morning, May 4, 2019. She was born February 29, 1928 in Mohawk, MI. to Burley and Hilda (Rowe) Udell. On September 6, 1969, Fran married Carl Sorensen in Muskegon, MI. and spent 46 years together. Carl preceded her in death on June 29, 2015. She was a dedicated employee at Meijer. Fran was a prior member of the Salvation Army Church; there she held the honor of ringing the bell. She and Carl were both prior members of the Disabled American Veterans. Fran enjoyed camping trips to Blue Lake and playing Bingo at the DAV. She also enjoyed baking; her infamous pineapple upside down cake will be missed. Above all things, Fran loved being a grandma. Frances is survived by her children; Floyd Wilbur, Lillie Shaft, Louis (Christine) Wilbur Jr., and Terry (David) Kinserdahl; son-in-law, Jerry Andre; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Wilbur; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband Louis Wilbur Sr.; daughter, Linda Andre; son, John Wilbur; granddaughter, Renee Wolffis; grandson, Darrell Ripley, and several brothers and sisters. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sanctuary at the Park and the Poppen Residence for the wonderful care Fran received. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11AM on Wednesday May 8, 2019 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 E. Apple Ave., 231-726-5210 with visitation one-hour prior. VISITATION will be held from 6-8PM on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at The Sytsema Chapel. Entombment will take place at 1PM at Laketon Township Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Frances Sorensen can be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
