Mr. Francesco "Frank" Belmonte's Obituary
Mr. Francesco “Frank” Belmonte, age 97, passed away Tuesday evening, June 3, 2014 at his home. Frank was born August 5, 1916 to Ralph and Divina (Cairo) Belmonte in Costrolibero, Italy, and came to the United States and the Muskegon area when he was eleven years old. He worked at Bennett Pump for over 45 years before retiring, and worked with Hank Perri and Mario Corinti painting houses. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a longtime member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. On September 25, 1943 Frank married Catherine E. Sirianni, and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2007. SURVIVORS include 3 daughters, Patricia (Ted) DeGroot of Naples, FL, Mary Belmonte of Muskegon, Frances (John) Waszkiewicz of Allen Park, MI; 1 grandchild, Amanda Waszkiewicz; 3 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Maya, and Arianna; several loving nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Art (Janice) Casadonte. Frank was also preceded in death by his son, Frankie Belmonte; a grandson, Andrew Waszkiewicz; 2 sisters and 1 brother, Theresa Casadonte, Caesar Belmonte, and Mary Jane Belmonte. Frank was an avid fan and supporter of Muskegon Catholic Central and Notre Dame. He was affectionately known as “The Notre Dame Guy”. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, June 9, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. will be from 2-4 PM Sunday afternoon, with the Rosary prayed at 3:30 PM. Visitation will also be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Monday at the church.
