Francis L. "Larry" Bartos' Obituary
Francis L. “Larry” Bartos, age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 22, 1941 to Frank and Mary Bartos in Detroit, MI. Larry attended Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory High School and graduated class of 1959. He continued his education at both the University of Detroit and University of Chicago and later completed his Master’s degree from Michigan State University. On June 20, 1964, he married the love of his life, Patricia Oravetz in Detroit, MI. Together they cherished 54 years full of love, laughter and four children. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2018. Larry loved his optical career and owned and operated Artistic Eyewear beginning in 1986. He was a long-time member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and also a member of the Optical Association and the Lions Club. In his earlier years, he loved playing sports and continued sharing those experiences with his grandchildren. He was also a history and movie buff. Larry was his grandkids #1 fan and loved rooting for them at all their sporting events. He was a family man above all things and cherished the moments they shared. He deeply loved his family, friends and his alma mater, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. His caring and tender-loving spirit will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his four children, Renee (Steve) Samp, Laura (Jeff) Grevel, Patti (Don) Fellows and Andy (Beth) Bartos; the greatest joys of his life-his 10 grandchildren, Madison, Zach, Abby, Megan, Alyssa, Drew, Jolie, Grayson, Cullen, and Makenna; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Bill) Orban. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Bartos; in-laws, Stephen and Mary Oravetz and brother-in-law, Michael Oravetz. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church-Marian Chapel, 2929 McCracken St., Norton Shores, MI 49441 with a visitation one-hour prior. A visitation with the family will be held from 5-8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at The Lee Chapel of Systema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Memorial Contributions in Larry’s honor can be directed to Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory High School in Commerce, MI or Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Muskegon, MI.
