Francis Hoorn's Obituary
Mr. Francis Hoorn passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2005 in Kalamazoo at the age of 90. He was born on October 24, 1915 to Cornelius and Martina (Sluiter) Hoorn in Rock Valley, Iowa. On November 2, 1940 he married Louise B. Uhlich and she preceded him in death on April 10, 2001. Francis worked as a tool maker for Kaydon prior to his retirement in 1978. He attended the Orchard View Congregation Church. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Richard (Betty) Hoorn of Portage, MI, Dennis (Kathy) Hoorn of Richland, MI, JoAnn Cottone of Berkley, MI and Jay (Cindy) Hoorn of Richland, MI; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter; 1 brother, Bernard (Arlene) Hoorn of Arizona. Mr. Hoorn was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandson. SERVICES will be Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Orchard View Congregational Church with Warren Burgess officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 7-9 PM Wednesday at the Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. For a more lasting memorial please consider the Building Funds of Orchard View Congregational Church. Burial will take place at Balcom Cemetery in Ionia.
