Frank C. Kurburski's Obituary
Frank C. Kurburski, age 74, of Grand Haven passed away Friday, December 19, 2008, at a local care facility. He was born April 18, 1934, to Bert and Esther (Schluttenhofer) in Petoskey, MI. He married Marian Chapman on December 1, 1956, in Grand Haven, MI.
Frank was employed as an accountant most recently at Anderson Bylsma. Prior to that he was employed at Vanderwall Bros. Cement Co. and Ermanco Industries in Grand Haven.
Frank was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes and served as a trustee, youth group leader, and founded the “Old Foogies” group. He was a member of the American Legion Post #28 of Grand Haven, MI and served as co-chair of The Crusade for Toys. He was also active in Boy Scouts, having served as a scout leader for Pack 5. He served our country during the Korean War in the United States Marine Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Marian; one daughter, Lisa (Joe) Danicek and family Anne and Maggie of Grand Haven; three sons: Ron (Jodie) and family Matt, Tim, Brandon, and Andie of Grand Haven, Mark (Londa) and family Nick, Emily, and Madelyn of Holland, Jeff (Kelly) and family Jack and Max of Grand Haven; two sisters, Gayle Phillips of Kalkaska, MI, and Eleanor (Tom) Fuller of Orlando, FL; four brothers: George (Shirley) Kurburski of Petoskey, MI, Ralph (Rose) Kurburski of Battle Creek, MI, Wilbur (Caroline) Kurburski of Harbor Springs, MI, and Joe (Judy) Kurburski of Louisville, KY; two brothers-in-law, Byron (Nancy) Chapman of Spring Lake, MI, and Dudley (Leslie) Olson of Grand Haven, MI. Also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud and Ed Kurburski.
The service for Frank will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at the United Methodist Church of the Dunes in Grand Haven with Rev. Daniel Duncan officiating. Friends may meet the family Monday, December 22, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 23, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven (please use the new east entrance). In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please remember the American Legion Crusade for Toys Fund or the United Methodist Church of the Dunes.
