Frank J. "Beef" Garzelloni, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Frank J. Garzelloni, Sr., age 79, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, January 17, 2009. He was born April 22, 1929 in Muskegon to Thomas and Lena (Dolci) Garzelloni. Mr. Garzelloni was a 1953 graduate of Western Michigan University where he earned 3 varsity letters in football. Mr. Garzelloni was a teacher for the Muskegon Public School System for 31 years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he had been a former Grand Knight and District Deputy. Mr. Garzelloni was a former driving instructor for the Muskegon Public School System, a member of the Old News Boys, the Michigan Sports Sages, belonged to the Retired Teachers Association, the morning coffee crew, coached football for Muskegon and Muskegon Heights and was a member of the National Guard in Grand Haven. He was one of the original owners of Crockery Hills/Terra Verde Golf Course, which he helped build, and was an avid wine maker. He was also a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. On June 23, 1951 he married the former Mona H. Gordon at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Dennison and she survives him along with 7 children, Paula VandenBosch of Norton Shores, Thomas (Marisue) Garzelloni of Roosevelt Park, Nilda (Dove) DoVale of Bandon, OR, Daniel (Barbara) Garzelloni of Parker, CO, Tina (Bob) Versaw, Maria (Troy) Pashak, Frank (Lori) Garzelloni, Jr. all of Norton Shores; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 4 brothers, Tom (Mary) Garzelloni of Grand Haven, Bill (Shirley) Garzelloni of Kalamazoo, Joe (Carole) Garzelloni of Nunica, Jim (Maribeth) Garzelloni of Grand Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Drew Steven Grasman and 3 brothers, Pasquale “Pat”, Edwin, and Charles Garzelloni. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Julian Reginato presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565 with the Rosary prayed at 6:00 PM.
