Franklin "Frank" Fazakerley, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Franklin “Frank” Fazakerley, Jr., age 87, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. He was born May 27, 1921 in Holland, MI to Franklin and Dorothy (Hazekamp) Fazakerley and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. Frank served 6 years in the U.S. National Guard. On April 4, 1941, he married the former June K. Kooi in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on April 30, 2007. Frank worked for over 20 years as a meat cutter for Plumb’s Grocery Stores and later worked over 10 years at Hazekamp Meats retiring in 1995. He currently was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church and had been a former member of Unity Reformed Church. Frank served as elder at both churches. Frank also served 20 years as a trustee for Egelston Township. Family was Frank’s first priority. When he was able, he enjoyed fishing, playing golf and bowling. He will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Michael (Mari) Fazakerley of Northport, FL, Pamela (Bernard) McKenzie, Mark (Christine) Fazakerley, David (Cathy) Fazakerley all of Muskegon; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Fellowship Reformed Church (4200 E. Apple) with Pastor Jerry Worrel officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION with Frank’s family will be 5-8 PM Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210.
