Frank R. Wathen's Obituary
Mr. Frank Robert Wathen, age 81, passed away October 4, 2007 at his residence. He was born on February 7, 1926 to Julius and Elizabeth (Knowles) Wathen in Chicago. On August 10, 1946 he married the former Viola L. Thornberg in Muskegon. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Wathen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he ushered for more than 30 years. He was employed with AM Castle as a truck driver for 25 years and also volunteered at the American Red Cross for over 13 years. Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years Viola L.; 4 children, Robert (Alice) Wathen, Patricia (Harry) Mosher, Sally (John) Byrne and Bruce (Lori) Wathen and god-son, Steven (Debbie) VanDam; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, James and Bruce. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be 1:00 PM Monday, October 8, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Lassanske officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Sunday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue 231 726-5210 and one hour prior to the service at church. MEMORIALS to West Shore Lutheran School would be appreciated.
