Frank R. "Papa Siep" Sieplinga's Obituary
Mr. Frank R. “Papa Siep” Sieplinga, age 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday evening, September 14, 2005. He was born November 14, 1922 in Muskegon to Johannes and Johanna (Sugarbaker) Sieplinga, and had been a life resident of the area. Mr. Sieplinga proudly served his country during WWII as a S/Sgt. in the Army, where he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He worked at Amstore for 38 years before retiring in 1984. Mr. Sieplinga was a member of Fifth Reformed Church, where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Catechism and Sunday School Teacher, and Senior Activities Coordinator for many years. He was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Panther Veteran’s Association, and enjoyed traveling. Most of all he loved his family, and they were the joy of his life. On September 28, 1944, he married the former Marion S. Kvarnberg in Fort Rucker, Alabama, and she survives him along with 4 children, Bonnie (Larry) Vanderlaan of Roosevelt Park, Robert (Cynthia) Sieplinga of Muskegon, Ronald Sieplinga and Donald Sieplinga both of Norton Shores; six grandchildren, Sue (Dallas) Henderson, Scott (Jill) Vanderlaan, Shawn (Jim) LaRoy, Todd Sieplinga, Kristy Sieplinga, Michael Sieplinga; 7 great-grandchildren, Erika, Jori, Ethan, Erin, Mallory, Dusten, and Maranda; sister-in-law, Fran Haken; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Herman and Arthur Sieplinga, and a sister, Jane Haken. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Fifth Reformed Church with Rev. Norman Swier officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday at
