Frank S. Balaskovits' Obituary
Frank S. Balaskovits, age 93, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, August 13, 2011 following a short illness. He was born on March 2, 1918 in Leechburg, PA to Joseph and Marie (Stefely) Balaskovits and was raised on a farm in Big Rapids, MI. Frank moved to Muskegon as a young man and on October 15, 1938 married the former Jennie Cwynar. Jennie preceded him in death on February 26, 2006. Mr. Balaskovits was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was formerly employed by the City of Muskegon Heights Department of Public Works. He retired in 1982 from the Muskegon County Waste Water. Mr. Balaskovits is survived by: two daughters, Nancy J. Gauthier and Barb (Rich) Werner both of Muskegon; five grandchildren, Troy (Richard Spina) Gauthier, Brent (Becky) Gauthier, Cory (Fabiana) Werner, Craig (Sarah) Werner and Deanna Werner; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held: 11:00 A.M., Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fr. Thomas Brown presiding. Visitation will be held at: The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 759-8565 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday and one hour prior to Mass at church. The rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 6 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions: Muskegon Catholic Education Foundation or Sacred Heart Church.
