Mr. Fred E. Hradsky's Obituary
Mr. Fred E. Hradsky, age 92, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2014, at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. Fred was born March 13, 1922 in Norton Township on the family farm to John and Katherine (Poliak) Hradsky. Fred served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a crew chief aboard a B-29 Bomber. He worked as a brick mason and recently received his lifetime membership for 50 years in Local #2 Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers of Michigan. Fred was a member of the Conservation Club, the NRA, and also held a private pilot’s license. He loved his land and gardened until this last year. Fred also enjoyed fishing; especially trout and ice fishing. An avid deer hunter, a pioneering bow hunter, a member of the West Shore Bowman; he hunted until he was 90 years old. Flying his plane up north, he had lunch with Fred Bear, and had Fred make a bow for him. He was blessed with a wonderful circle of family and friends who helped him remain independent. Fred is survived by his brother, Daniel Hradsky of Norton Shores; sisters-in-law, Peggy Hradsky and Carol Hradsky; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Joe, Steve, Mart, and George; sisters, Ann Thurman, Amellia Botbyl and Helen Finger. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 12, 2014 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 4475 Henry St., with Rev. Mark Gilson officiating.
