Fred L. Laventure's Obituary
Fred L. Laventure, age 78, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after courageously battling cancer. He was born on December 28, 1944, to Bernard and Dorothy (Ellington) Laventure in Detroit, MI and has called Harrietta, MI home for the last 35 years. Fred followed various career paths, but he truly enjoyed the years dedicated to Mesick Consolidated Schools, where he worked as a bus driver. He was an avid baseball fan, always rooting for his Detroit Tigers. Fred was known as an outdoorsman enjoying his time hunting with his sons or fishing with his brother, Jim. Above all things, he loved spending time with his family and friends helping them with anything life brought their way. Fred was a jokester and could easily fill a room with laughter. If you told a “dad” joke; it is said that you “Fredded!” Fred was a loving and tender-hearted spirit who will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his two sons, Brad (Laurie) Laventure and Matthew (Lisa) Laventure; seven grandchildren, Sam, Jessica, Faith, Matthew Jr., Sophie, Hailie (Sean) and Molly; four great-grandchildren, Layla, Madilyn, Harrison and baby Carson who is on the way; two brothers, Jim (Marty) Laventure and Larry (Delma) Laventure and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Laventure, Dorothy (Ellington) Laventure; three sisters, Shirley Inman, Jean Amidon and Beverly Cummings; and two brothers, Bernie Laventure and David Laventure. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Section 16 Cemetery, 2801 S. 7 Rd., Harrietta, MI 49638. Followed by a gathering at the Harrietta Village Hall, 100-132 W. Garland St., Harrietta, MI 49638. Arrangements entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
