Mr. Fred Powlenko's Obituary
Mr. Fred Powlenko, 89, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 12, 2014 in Muskegon. Fred was born November 11, 1924 to John Z. and Katherine (Szpieg) Powlenko in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. He worked at Sealed Power for 33 years before retiring, and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He belonged to the Masons, danced in the Ukranian group in New York City, performed in many plays with the Civic Opera, and had been the area and district governor of the Toastmasters. On February 27, 1965 Fred married Patricia J. Steenhagen. SURVIVORS include his wife of 49 years, Pat; 2 sons, Kevin (Kasandra) Powlenko of Muskegon, Mark (Amy) Powlenko of Buffalo, NY; 2 grandchildren, Karlee and Austin Powlenko, both of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his brother Edward. THE FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 16, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, (231) 798-1100, with Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service.
