Mr. Fred H. Roberts Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Fred H. Roberts, Sr., age 76, passed away Thursday evening, April 11, 2013 in Muskegon. He was born September 30, 1936 to Walter and Teressa (Hinton) Roberts in Muskegon, and was a life resident. Fred worked at S.D. Warren/Sappi for 40 years, retiring in 1994. Music was an important part of his life – he enjoyed playing the guitar, saxophone, piano, and organ, and also many forms of dance. Fast-pitch softball and the Detroit Red Wings were also a source of entertainment. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Gloria. He is survived by 6 children, Debbie (Dennis) Alloway, Dawn (Gary) TenBrink, Fred Roberts, Jr., Donna Roberts, Paul (Dawn) Roberts, Paula (Don) Brown; 8 grandchildren, David, Tanya, Tami, Misty, Josh, Jared, Kyle, and Holly; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Tucky (Toni) Roberts; 1 sister, Louise Czarney; step-children, Jeff, Cheri, Shelly, and Kristi. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Jerry Roberts; 1 sister, Myrabelle Backstrom. A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 18 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565 with Chaplain Marilyn Rottschafer officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery. A time of gathering with the family will take place from 5-8PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
