Fred W. Scheerer's Obituary
Fred William Scheerer, age 94, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020. He was born on November 17, 1926 to Jacob and Pearl (Stephens) Scheerer in Muskegon, MI. Fred proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. After returning from the service, Fred went on to become a Production Control Coordinator for Continental Motors where he worked for 42 years until his retirement in 1989. On May 6, 1946 he married the love of his life, the former Beverly Brown, and they spent 68 years together until her passing in August of 2014. Fred was happiest when spending time with his family. He shared his love for fishing with family and friends. (The trips to the two-hearted river with his kids were his favorite.) He also enjoyed golf, traveling with his wife Beverly and cheering on his kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren at their sporting events. He is survived by three sons, William (LuAnn) Scheerer, Richard (Linda) Scheerer, and Jacob Scheerer; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly Scheerer; daughter, Barbara Ellen Schultz; three brothers and four sisters. A private family service with military honors will take place. Burial will be at Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel of The Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., MI 49444.
