Fred C. Bowen, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Fred C. Bowen, age 78, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 20, 1932 in Hart, MI to Fred and Ila (Shaffer) Bowen and resided in the Muskegon area most of his life. Fred was the owner of F & F Distributers for over 30 years before retiring in 1992. He was enlisted in the US Army, serving during the Korean War. Fred was a member of the Polish Falcons, Moose Lodge, Lithuanian Club, Eagles, Tatra Hall and other organizations and clubs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, trips to Northern Michigan, operating big equipment, watching his brother’s horses race, but most of all visiting and spending time with his family. On June 18, 1955, he married the former Helen Rambo, and she survives him along with 6 children, Fred (Charleen) Bowen of Hart, Sandra (David) Sedgley, Steve (Shauna) Bowen, Carol (Greg) Karis, Debra (Al Thomas) Bowen, and Kimberly (Craig) Schultz all of Muskegon; 21 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Don Bowen of Muskegon, John Bowen of Baldwin; sister, Patsy Dancz of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter-in-law, Patti. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 1PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8PM Monday, and 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Memorial Contributions in Fred’s name to the American Diabetes Association will be appreciated.
