Frederic Eugene VanBemmelen Jr.'s Obituary
Frederic Eugene VanBemmelen, Jr., age 74, of Spring Lake, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at his home. He was born March 9, 1938, to Frederic, Sr. and Marion (VanderMeiden) VanBemmelen in Grand Haven. He married the former Judith Louise Vink on March 14, 1981 in Spring Lake.
Fred was a resident of Spring Lake and had been employed by the former NBD Bank, retiring in 1994. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #1 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven, enjoyed fishing, reading, playing the piano, and woodworking. Fred loved riding in his golf cart with his dog, “Dutchess,” and cherished his friendship with Al Rose.
Fred is lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy; daughters: Christine (Andrew) Merryweather, Jennifer (Randy) Weavers, and Deborah (Marc) Rabitoy; sons: Kennard (Laura) VanBemmelen, Daniel (Rochelle) Pearson, Stephen (Linda) Pearson, Timothy (Lani) Pearson, and Mark (Brenda) Pearson; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his mother, Marion VanBemmelen; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Kolkema and Betty (Dick) Bierman; and 1 brother, Bob (Sherry) VanBemmelen.
The Funeral Service for Fred will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with Rev. Richard Rhem officiating. Friends may meet the family from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 11, at the funeral home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Scouting Heritage Society, Gerald R. Ford Council of BSA, 3213 Walker Ave., NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49544-9775.
