Frederick A. Kenny Sr.'s Obituary
Frederick A. Kenny, Sr., 84, was called to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 22, 2019 after several battles with age-related illnesses. Fred proudly served his country with the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He graduated from the Muskegon Police Academy in 1966 and was a proud law enforcement officer for 34 years. Most recently, he worked for Securitas Security and for many years was assigned to Cannon of Muskegon in Norton Shores. Fred was a lifetime resident of Muskegon and graduated in 1953 from St. Mary’s High School. He was a life member of F.O.E. Aerie #668 and a member of American Legion Post 9 in Muskegon. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; however, regularly attended Mass at other local catholic churches including Sacred Heart, St. Francis and Our Lady of Grace. He married Cheryl (Venne) on May 10, 1994 in Louisville, KY. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2015. He was an active member in many social clubs throughout Muskegon and held many positions in them, including Lakeside Eagles, Muskegon Eagles, Polish Union, Polish Falcons, Polaski Lodge, Moose Lodge and Tatra Hall. He enjoyed his time meeting with his many friends throughout Muskegon. Fred owned and operated a big lake charter fishing business where he served as Capt. of the Cheryl K. Charters. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Camilla (LaPres); one son, David; parents, Fred J. and Evelyn; sister, Patricia Corinti; brother, Larry Kenny; and brother-in-law, Tony Corinti. Fred is survived by two sons, Fred Jr. (Elaine Brege) and Jeff (Annie Bowen); a step-daughter, Denise Venne; step-son, Scott Venne and his spouse, Chris; sister-in-law, Gertrude; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 27, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. Visitation and luncheon with the family will be immediately following the service. In fulfillment of Fred’s wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest next to his son, David, at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
