Frederick C. LeMieux's Obituary
Frederick “Uncle Fred” Charles LeMieux, age 63, of Grand Haven passed away unexpectedly at home. He was born August 2, 1951 to Dr. Alfred Charles “Bud” and Kathryn C. (Delaney) LeMieux.
Fred attended both Grand Haven High school and East Kentwood High School. He went on to attend Muskegon Community College and the former Grand Valley State College. Fred served as a bartender for many years, and had aspirations of owning his own establishment. Prior to his work as a bartender, Fred was a partner in a local upholstery business. He also worked for the Corp of Engineers and Social Services. Fred served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Fred returned from the service with minor injuries, however, he may have had to pay a different toll throughout his life. He was a member of V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326, American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post #28 and the Grand Haven Eagles Ari 925. Fred founded the Caesy LeMieux Scholarship Fund and was the initial creator of the Annual VFW Rib Fest. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed trips to Florida and the Minnesota Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness.
Fred is lovingly remembered by his sister, Colleen Duga; 2 nephews, Sean and Scott Duga; 1 niece, Lisa (Joe) Berger; 10 great-nieces and nephews; and good friends, Stu Duga and Jim Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Caesy LeMieux; and nephew, Stuart.
