Frederick Walter Zallman's Obituary
Frederick Walter Zallman, 83, passed away March 10, 2014. He was an active member of Kainay Community Church where he lived out a commitment to his faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ by serving in various capacities. He was a life-long Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan supporting his teams no matter what. He retired in 1997 after 33 years of working in the field of banking. He was an avid golfer, dancer, and card player. He served in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to an ice breaker in Alaska during the Korean War. He was a member of the Heights Eagles and American Legion of Grand Haven and in his final years, he enjoyed being a snowbird in Florida. He is survived by his six children: F. Stephen (Trudi) Zallman, Susan (George) Pressler, Karen Pesta, Kelly Zallman, Tracy Zallman, Lisa (Pat) Covlasky as well as two brothers: Paul (Ann) Larson and Edwin "Rudy" Zallman. In addition, he is survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty, his granddaughter, Julie Kim Zallman and his son-in-law, Joseph W. Pesta. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Kainay Community Church, 3387 Hts. Ravenna Rd. Friends may visit with the family at 12:00 noon which will be followed by the service at 1:00 PM.
