Fredrick J. "Fred" Erhorn's Obituary
Fredrick J. “Fred” Erhorn, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, in Nunica, MI. He was born on September 6, 1936, in Grand Haven, MI to John and Gertrude (Johnson) Erhorn. He graduated from Coopersville High School in 1954 and then served his country in the United States Army. On June 18, 1960, Fred married Doris Boerma.
Fred was a life-time dairy farmer who owned and operated Century Acres Farm, which later became designated a Michigan Centennial Farm. He was very involved in the community where he served as the Crockery Twp. representative on the North Ottawa Community Hospital Board, President of the Ottawa County Farm Bureau, and Chairman of the Zeeland Farm Co-Op. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, playing Sudoku, and worked as a groundskeeper at Terra Verde Golf Course. Fred and Doris also took time to enjoy the winter months in Florida. Fred was very involved at St. Luke Lutheran Church, where he held various positions and roles.
Fred will be dearly missed by his wife, Doris; son, James (Evonne) Erhorn; grandchildren, Tyler (Abby) Erhorn, Erik (Molly) Erhorn and Chad (Bailee) Erhorn; great grandchildren, Adelynn, Hudson, James, Brady, and Fredrick; sister-in-law, Peggy Erhorn; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Erhorn; brothers, Walter Erhorn and Orville Beattie; and sister, Evelyn Stordahl.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11 AM on Friday, November 22, 2024, at St. Luke Lutheran Church (17122 2nd St., Nunica, MI 49448). VISITATION with the family will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, November 21, 2024, at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI 49456) and 1 hour prior to the service. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS in honor of Fred may be directed to West Michigan Hospice or the St. Luke Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
