I miss working with Bob. We got along very well during the 12 years leading to his retirement. He was always quick witted, extremely intelligent, and very caring for his Section of Engineers. I was honored to call him my friend.

Bob enriched many lives thru his intellect, character, get things done correctly and his unique humor and wit. Many a morning, for our daily collaboration, his opening greeting would be 'yo dog'. I found Bob an easy person to work with and a entertaining individual outside of work. Keep your powder dry, you will be missed.

What do I remember most about growing up with my cousin Bob? The back of his head – with all his dark hair. I sat behind him in homeroom every year from first grade up through and including 12th grade. It was always alphabetical order, ending with Robert Wharton, Marilyn Yeager and Marilyn Zimmer. He was always ahead of me! I remember riding bikes up and down the alley by his house and the year we played Halloween pranks on the neighbors. I also remember his smile, his sense of humor and his sharp, inquisitive mind. His skill as a marksman was extraordinary. I remember him saying how happy he was to combine his “avocation” with his “vocation.” He’ll be missed by all.

Bob and I grew up together as cousins. He did indeed always have that twinkle in his eye. We have always been proud of his marksmanship and his intelligence. He enriched my life and I am grateful for having shared some of his. Pat Zimmer Bentley
