Gale B. Hallead's Obituary
Gale B. Hallead, age 95, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015. He was born June 8, 1920 in Detroit, MI to William and Tressa (Mauterstock) Hallead. Gale was a Navy Veteran and served his country during WW II. He married the former Madonna Ryan. She preceded him in death in 1991. Following Mortuary School at Wayne State University, he worked for various funeral homes in Michigan for over 60 years. Several years after Madonna’s death, Gale met and married the former Ginette Rae in 1998. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. SURVIVORS include his wife Ginny; children, Robert (Joyce) Hallead, Gerald Hallead, Gail (Frank) Brechting and Mary (Frank) Harth; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; step-children, Hugh (Linda) Rae and Charles Freeman. He was also survived by several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gale was preceded in death by his infant daughter Elizabeth and a step daughter Marilyn Freeman. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 8 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Spring Lake, MI with Rev. Fr. Dave Gross celebrant. VISITATION with his family will be Wednesday 5-8pm with a Scripture Service at 5pm at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231)-798-1100. Burial will take place at the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Manistee, MI. Memorial donations may be made to The West Michigan Concert Winds Endowment Fund.
