Gale Lloyd Noel's Obituary
Gale Lloyd Noel, age 80, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away, Monday, June 13, 2016. He was born August 29, 1935 in Pellston, MI to Gale and Alma (Gillette) Noel and had lived in Scottville, MI for several years. Gale was a graduate of Scottville High School and went on to further his education at Western Michigan University, where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. In 1957 he married Josephine Reader and she preceded him in death in 1978. He spent a total of 38 years teaching biology and science at Muskegon Heights High School and Orchard View Schools before retiring in 1994. Gale had also spent many of those years coaching basketball and football. Mr. Noel was a member of the Vikings, White Lake Eagles, and was a huge Michigan State and Red Wings fan. On April 1, 1990 he married Joy Marie Topel-Kahler in Muskegon. Gale enjoyed wintering in Florida with Joy and spending time at their cabin on the Betsy river. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and horse racing. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and especially his time with his grandchildren. SURVIVORS include his wife, Joy; 5 children: Betsy (Steve) Coxwell of Florida, Gale A. Noel of Muskegon, Steven (Melanie) Kahler of Lansing, David (Debra) Kahler of Muskegon, Mark (Dawn) Kahler of Kalamazoo; 12 grandchildren: Heather, Rachelle, Justine, Andrea, Jessica, Anna, Benjamin, David, Danielle, Alexis, Grant, and Hailey; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Leonard Noel of Muskegon, Kelley (June) Noel of Coloma, MI; sister, Barbara Bailey of Ludington; sister-in-law, Kay (John) Frisch of Muskegon; many nieces and nephews; former sister-in-law, Pearl Noel; and his breakfast/golf buddies. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Susan Noel and brother-in-law, Roger Bailey. A CELEBRATION OF GALE’S LIFE will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 17, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with Pastor Chris Anderson officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Thursday, June 16, 2016 and one hour prior to the service on Friday afternoon.
