Garrett A. Rubley's Obituary
Garrett A. Rubley, age 89, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016. He was born June 24, 1926 in Kinderhook, MI to Ross and Jeanette (Wilkins) Rubley. Following graduation Mr. Rubley went into the service and served his county during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was discharged in January of 1947 and on August 10 married the former Myra Lee Cofer in Coldwater, MI and she preceded him in death on September 25, 2015. In the fall of 1952 he and a friend established R & M Antenna Service and operated the business for 45 years. Mr. Rubley was always proud of his four sons and their accomplishments, and as the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, also enjoyed spending time with them. Garrett liked to hunt, fish, golf (and even made a hole-in-one), and liked the casinos. He was a life-member of the Muskegon Lodge F&AM #140, Scottish Rite, and the Saladin Temple. He is survived by his sons: Kent (Mardi) Rubley, Keith (Debby) Rubley, Kirk (Beth) Rubley, Kevin (Dorota) Rubley; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Flora “Shorty” Hauska, Florence Ewer; special niece, Gloria; nieces and nephews; and his dog, Josie. He was also preceded in death his parents; brother, Dale and sister-in-law, Renee; sister, Thelma Endicott and brother-in-law, Jim and their daughter, Christine; brothers-in-law, Jack Hauska and Weir Ewer; an infant sister; daughter-in-law, Carol; and his favorite dog, Sparty. SERVICES for Mr. Rubley will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 19, 2016 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday with a Candle Light Masonic Service held at 6 PM. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater, MI.
