Garrit H. Roossien Jr.'s Obituary
Garrit Henry Roossien Jr, age 88, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022, in Muskegon, MI. Garrit was born on July 14, 1934, to his parents Garrit Sr. and Coby (Johnston) Roossien in Muskegon, MI. On June 5, 1956, he married the former Hazel DeBrie, and they spent 66 wonderful years together. Garrit was a hard worker and worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, including as a machinist at Morton Manufacturing, Continental Motors, and MISCO, and also as a security guard at Muskegon Piston Ring. Garrit was an avid outdoorsman; in his younger years he enjoyed hunting for deer and pheasants, and more recently he liked to fish on any lake that had fish in it. He was also a very talented bowler, winning many trophies over the years. He enjoyed going on trips to the casino with Hazel, always taking the scenic route so that they could enjoy the drive through the farm country. Garrit will be lovingly remembered by Hazel, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as two infant sons: Carl and Gary. A FUNERAL for Garrit will be taking place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444. VISITATION will be taking place from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, as well as an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
