Garth L. Wambaugh's Obituary
Mr. Garth L. Wambaugh, age 90, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on December 9, 2024. He was born on May 25, 1934, to Norman and Florence Wambaugh in Muskegon, MI.
Garth grew up on a farm in Ravenna and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1952. He served four years in the US Navy, passing the Electricians Mate A School in Great Lakes, IL and was stationed in Philadelphia, PA. On February 1, 1958, Garth married Frances M. Ramirez. He was employed through Local 275 and worked as a Journeyman Electrician until retirement.
In his early years, Garth enjoyed playing baseball, competitive softball, tennis, and golf. His family was most important to him, whether attending his grandchildren’s football, baseball or basketball games or recitals, plays and concerts, he always had a smile on his face. He loved a good western book or movie. There wasn’t a slot machine he didn’t like! In the summertime, you could always find him outside in his swing counting the cars. Later in life, Garth enjoyed having his family over for nightly dinners and cherished spending that time together.
Garth will be deeply missed by his wife, Frances. His children Nadine (Doug) Thomas, Jeneene (Brad) Evans, Nannette (Kurt VanOordt) Bromley, James (Tara) Wambaugh, grandchildren Marc, David, Bethany, Eric, Brendan, Drew, Alyssa, Dylan, Evan, Aidan and Ian; ten great grandchildren with one expected in February 2025; one great, great grandchild expected in March 2025; special niece Pam Stenberg; sisters in-law Margaret Roberts, Gloria (Ron) Miedema, brothers in law, John (Annette) Ramirez, Tony Ramirez, Rene Carillo and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ava (Jim) Japenga, son in law Jeff Bromley, brothers in law Art (Marion) Ramirez, Bill Roberts; sisters in law Chris (Mike) Purcell and Minnie Ramirez.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Family Center located at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S.
