Gary Lee Appel Sr.'s Obituary
Gary Lee Appel, Sr. age 72, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, unexpectedly at home. He was born December 29, 1951, in Grand Haven to John and Ruby (Heinz) Appel. He married the love of his life, Carol J. Shaft, on November 21, 1970, after the two met at Grand Haven Roller Rink.
Gary was the Owner and Operator of Appel’s Welding, which he started in the early 80’s and retired in 2001. He built the family home and their cabin in Ruby Creek and loved to hunt and fish.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol Appel; daughter, Julie Appel; son, Gary (Heather) Appel, Jr.; two grandchildren, Travis Appel and Dillon Appel; great-grandson, Henry Appel; his brother, John (Jeannie) Appel, Jr.; his dog and faithful companion, Harvey. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew, Mark Appel.
