Gary Greer Gray's Obituary
Gary Greer Gray, age 76, of Nunica, died unexpectedly, Monday, April 2, 2012, of a massive heart attack in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born July 28, 1935 in Gary, Indiana to Charles Samuel and Virginia Mae (Greer) Gray.
Gary graduated from Grand Haven High School. He was employed by Star Machine, Johnston Boiler, Naph Sol Refinery, and owned, operated and was President of Gray Oil, Coal and Lime Company. Gary was a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, the West Michigan Oilmens Club, Elks, and Ducks Unlimited. Gary was an avid sportsman who enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, and softball. Gary was a great third baseman and also sponsored many area teams.
Gary is lovingly remembered by his significant other of 27 years, Sara Kalsbeek; his children, Judi (Greg) Ingalls of Nunica, Gary (Diane) Gray of Nunica, Susan (Greg) Borta of Grand Haven, and Carrie (Kevin) Ruiter of Nunica; former wife Lois Gray of Nunica; grandchildren, Sarah and Evan Ingalls, Christopher and Cory Gray, Cody and Ashley Borta, MacKenzie and Graysen Ruiter; great-grandson, Jaxon Ingalls-Montano; his twin brother, Glen (Joan) Gray of Grand Haven; and many nieces and nephews. Gary was an animal lover his whole life and will be especially missed by his dog Bailli and his cats Mr. and Mynx. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Samuel Gray and mother Virginia May (Greer) Gray, a brother, Charles (Marilyn) Gray, and his sister, Elizabeth (John) Jackson.
The Funeral Service for Gary will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, April 6 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery.
