Gary Lee Kersting Sr.'s Obituary
Gary Lee Kersting, Sr., age 76, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born February 27, 1947 in Muskegon to Gerald T. and Henrietta J. (Orquist) Kersting and was a lifelong resident of the area. Gary worked over 25 years as a tool and die maker for Shape Corporation. Gary married Rose A. Mackey on November 29, 1965 in Muskegon Heights, MI and she preceded him in death on August 5, 2019. Gary loved his family and was generous to a fault helping anyone that asked or needed. Gary was a master fabricator that enjoyed restoring antique automobiles, building cannons and creating works of art. Simultaneously a man of both the past and the future he was a unique human being that was loved by many and will be missed. Survivors include 3 children, Gary L. Kersting, Jr., Sherry Kersting, Daniel K. Kersting; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Merilee Patterson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Kersting; his parents; 1 brother, Dennis R. Kersting; and 1 sister, Patricia Lemke. Honoring Gary’s wishes, there will be no public services.
