Although this is a very sad time, it must be comforting to realize the impact that Gary's life had on so many others. He will be missed and the wonderful memories we've shared will be remembered.

Special friend, roommate, and fraternity brother. I am saddened, but remembering the good times. Blessings to his family and many friends.

I have been blessed with the gift of a Chronicle career and the honor to live in Muskegon. Gary Ostrom has been a key part of it all. I was heading our Grand Haven bureau in late 1990 when I was brought back to the Muskegon office to be business editor. I am sure that as publisher, Gary had a lot to do with that. Over the next 17 years, Gary and I had an outstanding working relationship that served our readers, our newspaper and the community very well. It was a joy to go to work with the team he assembled. By example, he created the family that lives on as The Muskegon Chronicle. For that, this man's life work blessed me and my family. I am thankful.
Dearest Kay,
I was so shocked and sad to hear about Gary passing away.
Our family is sending you healing prayers, hugs and hopes that you are surrounded by much love.

Gary was a classmate and fraternity brother at Stetson University. He taught me how to quietly make a difference in people's lives. While I was not able to fully appreciate his gift at the time, I eventually learned the genius of Gary Ostrom. Some of the success of my ministry today is because of what Gary taught me. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
