Gary J. Schichtel's Obituary
Mr. Gary James Schichtel, age 51, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 following a battle with cancer. He was born on December 26, 1969 to Robert and Barbara (Ludlow) Schichtel in Muskegon. A lifelong resident of the area, Gary worked as a professional cleaner, often working two jobs at once. He was known to always lend a hand to anyone in need day or night, whether he knew you or not. Gary enjoyed fixing up cars and spending time with friends when he wasn’t working and watching the Detroit Lions. He spent many days fishing with his dad, Bob, until he passed away in 1998. After his dad passed Gary took great care of mom, Barb. Gary enjoyed a quiet, simple life and will be missed by many, including his mom, Barb Schichtel; sister, Valerie (Tim) Lundholm, niece, Kailey (fiancé, Nic Howell) Lundholm, nephew, Nick Lundholm; childhood friend, Darrin Miller; and friend, Rejeana McBride and family. A Memorial Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 10 from 2-4:00PM and 6-8:00PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A Family Graveside Service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens will be held. Memorial contributions in Gary’s memory may be directed to Gary Schichtel GoFundMe, Harbor Hospice Foundation, or Mercy Health Muskegon.
