Gary L. Williamson's Obituary
Mr. Gary L. Williamson, age 77, passed away Wednesday morning, April 16, 2008 at his home.Gary’s journey began on March 14, 1931. He was born in Muskegon to Elmer and Martha (Thompson) Williamson. At an early age the family moved to the rural Hart area where Gary graduated from Hart High School. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. In May of 1952 he married Leora Moon of Fremont, and then settled in the Muskegon area to raise his family. He worked for CSX Railroad, the City of Muskegon Heights as water department supervisor, and eventually became self-employed as a builder. Aside from his family, his interests were building and restoring antique cars. Gary was a member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, the Fruitport Eagles, and the Lovell Moore Masonic Lodge. He will always be remembered and missed by his loved ones. SURVIVORS include his wife Leora of Norton Shores; 1 son, James D. (Wendy) Williamson of Muskegon; son-in-law, Stephen V. (Valerie) Vallier of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Chelsea Boyd, D.J. Vallier, Jodi (Phil) Matthews, Chris Vallier; 1 great-granddaughter,Allison Matthews; 1 brother, Burt (Nina) Williamson of Florida. Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice L. Vallier on October 3, 1995; 1 brother, Eldon; 2 sisters, Billie and Nadine. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 26, at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mark Erbes officiating.
