Gary Lewis Bailey's Obituary
Mr. Gary L. Bailey, age 66, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 3, 2011. He was born August 14, 1944 in Amarillo, TX to Lewis and Betty (Giles) Bailey. Gary enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 2 tours of duty with the Marine Corps as a medic in Viet Nam. He was employed by I.B.M. as a field manager for 30 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 3195 and was an active member of the 3rd Force Recon Group. He married the former Linda J. Moore in Niantic, IL on February 15, 1969. She survives him along with 3 children, Tanya (Christopher) Covey of Naperville, IL, Tony (Kim) Bailey of Muskegon and Lewis (Stacy) Bailey of Chicago, IL; 5 grandchildren, Catherine, Cameron, Caroline, Jack, Jolynn and one on the way; 1 sister, Connie Bailey of Grand Rapids; and mother-in-law, Mary Moore of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Pat and Brenda; and a brother, Charles. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz as celebrant. VISITATION will be held Thursday, 6- 8 p.m. at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. A ROSARY will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Illiopolis, IL. MEMORIAL contributions may be made to Harbor Hospice or St. Francis de Sales Church.
