Geneva F. Oegema's Obituary
Geneva Oegema, beloved wife and loving mother went to the Lord on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, after being cared for by her devoted daughter, Deborah Oegema. Geneva is the mother of six children who mourn her passing but know she is reunited with her husband in God’s mansion. Geneva was married to the Rev. Ted Oegema who worked for Western Michigan Christian High School and World Vision International. Geneva was devoted to being a minister’s wife and mother of six children; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
Geneva will be remembered for her love of flowers, birds and Lake Michigan. She loved her garden and visits to the channel with her daughter. She instilled this love in her children and this memory will be renewed with each change of season.
Geneva was born to Harry & Effie (Riemersma) Rodenhouse in Grand Rapids, MI on February 25, 1920. She married her high school sweetheart in February of 1942 and spent the next years moving from various churches that her husband served. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah; five sons, Ted, Dave, Dan, Tim and Steve, their spouses and children; 3 sisters-in-law, Alberdine Rodenhouse, Em Huizingh and Gert VanDerWerf, all of Grand Rapids. She was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Rodenhouse.
SERVICES will be 11 AM Friday at Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442, (231-726-5210)with the Revs. Kyle DeYoung & James Bos officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION will be 6-8PM Thursday.
