Genevieve T. Mastee's Obituary
Genevieve T. Mastee, age 95, passed away Tuesday, March 03, 2015. She was born September 10, 1919 in Detroit, MI to Kazimierz and Stefania (Powdowski) Zuber. Mrs. Mastee worked at her father’s store, Zuber’s Grocery, and founded with her husband and sister the Budnic and Mastee Holster Company. She had also worked for the Sun Shine laundromat for several years and enjoyed making crafts and going from art fair to art fair. She also loved to crochet, knit, work with beads, and play Bingo. Mrs. Mastee was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society, and the Polish Union. On June 15, 1940 she married Leo J. Mastee in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on April 15, 1982. SURVIVORS include 3 sons: Theodore (Nancy) Mastee, John (Jill) Mastee both of Norton Shores, James (Jean) Mastee of Spring Lake; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Walter Mastee; 2 sisters-in-law: Irene and Virginia Mastee; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Zuber and her sister, Jennie Budnic. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, March 6, 2015 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz presiding. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with the Rosary prayed at 6 PM, and also one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
