Genevieve "Gen" Matthews' Obituary
Mrs. Genevieve “Gen” Matthews, age 86, died Wednesday afternoon, February 9, 2005. She was born April 21, 1918 in Muskegon to William and Kate (Luikens) DeLong, and had been a life resident. Mrs. Matthews was a member of Fifth Reformed Church, the Reformed Church Women’s Ministries, and the Women’s Bible Study. On September 12, 1939, she married Ernest H. Matthews in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on January 22, 1982. SURVIVORS include her son, Ron (Carolyn) Matthews of Muskegon; 2 grandchildren, Jeremy (Lisa) Matthews of Norton Shores, Andy (Erika) Matthews of Coldwater, MI; 3 great-grandchildren, Kate, Kaylee, and Tyler; brother, Paul DeLong of Muskegon; sister, Ann DeLong of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Tom and Clarence DeLong, and by 3 sisters, Bertha Hagstrom, Gladys Pompstra, and Dee Dewind. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Monday at Fifth Reformed Church with Rev. Norman Swier officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday at
