Genevieve L. Lach's Obituary
Genevieve L. Lach, age 83, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at her home. She was born September 7, 1924, in Grand Rapids to Louis and Dora (Johnson) Greenwald, and she married Emil Lach on February 8, 1947.
Mrs. Lach lived most of her life in the Grand Haven area and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She and her husband enjoyed building and selling houses. An avid reader, Genevieve also loved interior decorating, traveling in Northern Michigan, and cooking. She also served as a volunteer at North Ottawa Community Hospital.
Survivors include her loving husband, Emil; three grandchildren: Jeff (Lisa) Johnson of South Lyon, MI, Jennifer (Rick) Fulmer of Yorkville, Illinois, and Carrie Johnson of Hamilton, MI; six great-grandchildren: Lindsay Fulmer, Nick Fulmer, Marshall Johnson, Ellery Johnson, Kyle Brooks, and Jacob Brooks; and many nieces and nephews. Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Judy Simonds in 1942; daughter Nancy Johnson and son-in-law Stephen Johnson in 2000; an infant great-granddaughter, Ashley Fulmer; a sister, Madeline “Meg” Swiftney; and a brother, Gerald Greenwald.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven with Rev. William Langlois as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 13, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery.
