George was a good friend dating back over 35 years for me when I began my coaching career at Central Montcalm. We scheduled matches when I coached at Holland and continued our friendship as MIGCA Hall of Famers through the completion of our active coaching years. George will be missed because he was a caring human being. One of the good guys. There are thousands of students, players, and coaches who will mourn his loss. . . especially me.

Coach Bitner saw me jumping hurdles for fun at track practice one day, then he found a pair of spikes in my size and helped me become a pretty good hurdler for the team. 2 years later he recruited me to play girls golf. He was a great coach and such I nice man. My condolences to his family…

Mr. Bitner was the best, he was my Junior high track coach and talked me into tossing the shotput, in return I turned around and won the Jr. Olympics. Thanks Mr. B, what an awesome guy he will always be remembered as, one of Spring Lakes greats!!!!
I am very saddened to hear about my friend George’s passing. I will always hold his memory dear to my heart. We shared many conversations and coaching experiences. My condolences to the family. He was a great coach, but an even better human being. He will be missed. I am sorry that I cannot attend the memorial. I am still in Florida.
